What happens at an Institute? (How is it structured?) Typically, the Institute starts with an a welcome and networking event in the early evening of the first day; appetizers are usually provided. The second day starts early with breakfast, followed by workshops, forums, and meetings, with lunch at midday. Typically, the second day concludes with an inspirational awards banquet followed by a relationship-building/renewing social event. The third day starts early with breakfast, followed by additional workshops, a forum, and/or meetings. It concludes in the early afternoon with a farewell luncheon. Each Institute is a little bit different and the ones held in the Washington DC area must be built around opportunities to meet with policy-makers. Participants are encouraged to come a day or two early or stay an extra day to visit local tourist attractions.
