VALUE is a charitable organization working to improve our nation's education system and empower adults with low literacy skills to realize their human potential.
Come help improve policy-makers’ understanding of adult literacy!
On May 3-5, 2009, VALUE will hold its 6th biennial Leadership Institute in New Carrollton, MD. Cosponsored this year by ProLiteracy Worldwide , the event’s full name is the National Adult Learner Leadership Institute and Adult Literacy Congress.
Legislators know about elementary, secondary, and higher education; they all went through it and many have children and grandchildren going through it. However, few know about adult literacy. That’s why the field needs adult learner leaders and literacy professionals from every state to attend this Leadership Institute. Attendees will be teaching policy-makers about adult literacy from the consumer's perspective. We must raise awareness of adult literacy in Washington, DC and recruit new champions on Capitol Hill.
The theme of this event is “Adult Literacy: the Consumer Perspective.”
